Sharel Cassity Collective
Alto saxophonist Sharel Cassity leads a dynamic and swinging quartet. Since she arrived in New York City from Oklahoma in 2000, Cassity has taken the jazz world by storm. She has worked with Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Christian McBride, Gregory Porter, Jimmy Heath, and other jazz greats. She has also performed with mainstream artists Aretha Franklin, Vanessa Williams, K.D. Lang, and Natalie Merchant. The New York Times describes her “live wire sound” as “invigorating” while All About Jazz likes her “wide range of bop-infused musical styles” and “searing chops.”
